Dr. Priyesh C U, an assistant professor in the Political Science department at Maharajas College, was subjected to insults by students. The incident involved recording a video mocking the teacher, which subsequently went viral.
Following the incident, the professor lodged a complaint with the Head of the Department regarding the offensive behavior. Consequently, the college administration took action, suspending six students involved in the incident. Those suspended included KSU Unit Vice President Muhammad Fazil, Nandana Sagar, Ragesh, Priyada, Aditya, and Fatima Naflam.
Actor Unni Mukundan expressed his strong condemnation of the students’ actions, labeling them as disgraceful. He expressed that this is an incredibly disgraceful and agonizing action coming from students who are expected to be socially responsible.
In a Facebook post, he expressed his hope that the appropriate authorities would take necessary measures to address the issue. He wrote, “Disgusting! Totally putting him to shame. That man fought against all odds to achieve a highly respectable position in society through sheer hard work, solely to provide for his family and dedicate his life to teaching. All you lowlifes could have simply respected his dedication to life, but no, you chose to belittle him and even had the audacity to film and share it online… If you can’t respect your teachers, have the courage to leave the classroom and find a purpose in life. I hope the authorities take the necessary actions…”
Previously, actor Hareesh Peradi also reacted to the incident. He remarked that not all students studying at Maharajas College would truly embody the spirit of a “Maharaja” (King). He emphasized that a wholesome society and a promising future for students can only stem from their behavior and activities.
