Kochi: Shiyas Siddique, arrested by the NIA for involvement in Islamic State (IS) terrorism case, revealed that he was part of a conspiracy to conduct huge bomb blasts in Kerala. He said that he took part in secret meetings at Thrissur and Palakkad to plan the terror attacks. Meanwhile, the NIA is searching for the second accused, Nabeel, in neighbouring states.
Shiyas Siddique, together with Ashif and Nabeel, were part of the Kerala module of the IS. Shiyas, a native of Thrissur took part in two meetings that were held in Thrissur and in Palakkad. He was part of the conspiracy to plan explosions in Kerala.
The grand plan was to conduct widespread bomb explosions in Kerala. According to Shiyas’ statement, when they failed to carry out explosions even after two meetings and after they suspected of being under surveillance by the intelligence agencies, he went into hiding.
Shiyas was nabbed after a covert operation launched by the intelligence agency. He was taken into a three-day custody by the NIA, yesterday, and questioned. The IS terrorist has revealed more information about the activities of the IS module in Kerala and their plans for terror attacks.
Four persons are involved in the conspiracy. Ashif, who is the first accused in the case, was arrested first by the NIA. The accused had planned to conduct bomb blasts at religious centers and was conspiring to carry out huge bomb blasts in the state to inflict maximum casualties.
RSS leaders were also on the hit list of the Kerala module of the Islamic State.
