THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that strong winds are likely to occur over the southern Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar, and Kanyakumari coast until August 19. The wind speed will range from 45 to 55 km per hour and may reach up to 65 kmph on some occasions. In light of this situation, the IMD stated in a notification that people should avoid fishing in these areas and exercise caution.
A warning has been issued about strong winds and adverse weather conditions with speeds of 40 to 45 kmph, and on certain occasions, reaching up to 55 kmph over the North Andhra Pradesh coast and the adjoining areas of the Central Bay of Bengal, North-West Bay of Bengal, and the adjacent North-East Bay of Bengal.
Meanwhile, there are no fishing restrictions along the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts.
However, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Center has cautioned that there is a possibility of high waves and a storm surge of 0.4 to 1.2 meters along the Kerala coast and 0.4 to 1.3 meters along the south Tamil Nadu coast until 11:30 tonight.
