Thrissur: Various Hindu organizations are demanding the protection of the lands belonging to the Sri Kurumba Bhagavati Temple in Kodungallur in Thrissur district. The Hindu organizations will organize a protest today against the Devaswom Board for trying to evade responsibility in transferring temple land in the name of a private individual. The Devaswom Board maintained that it was a technical error.
The Hindu organizations are also alleging a secret agenda in registering the temple lands as government land. The Hindu devotees will organize ‘Nama Japa’ or mantra chanting and large community worship to protest against the Devaswom Board’s move.
The protest by various Hindu organizations and leaders will take place today at 3.30 pm.
The Kodungallur Sri Kurumba Bhagavati Temple is one of the most ancient and still functioning temples in India. It is the head of the 64 Bhadrakali temples in Kerala and is believed to have been built in the remote past.
