Thiruvananthapuram: BJP State President, K Surendran, asked why the Opposition Leader, VD Satheesan, is not being questioned after allegations rose against him for collecting money from abroad in the name of charity. Surendran questioned the special treatment given to Satheesan by the state government.
K Surendran said that the allegation against VD Satheesan is that he went abroad, collected money in the name of charity works, brought the money to India and misused it. However, he is not being questioned.
The BJP leader also compared the treatment given to Satheesan and to him. The police had summoned me daily and questioned me. Took me for evidence collection, they examined my voice, and submitted charge sheet on every case, said Surendran.
K Surendran was charged with many cases especially during the Sabarimala protest and was slapped with cases across the state.
Surendran also asked if the investigation team had questioned him, and whether an FIR has been registered against Satheesan? He asked if Satheesan’s documents examined and from which all companies did he collect money from? He questioned if the investigation team has checked how Satheesan spent the money he brought from abroad.
The BJP leader also reminded that the government had taken case against Muslim League leader, KM Shaji, KPCC President, K Sudhakaran, and now a case is filed against Congress MLA, Mathew Kuzhalnadan too.
K Surendran asked what the specialty of VD Satheesan is.
It must be noted that the Opposition Leader took a soft stance when the Speaker, AN Shamseer, insulted Lord Ganapathy and Hindu beliefs. VD Satheesan did not demand an apology from the Speaker nor did he allow his party to raise the issue in the Legislative Assembly.
In addition, VD Satheesan tried to downplay the monthly payment row, involving the Chief Minister’s daughter, Veena Vijayan and her firm, Exalogic.
No UDF MLA’s raised the issue in the Assembly, barring Mathew Kuzhalnadan of Congress. However, the CPI(M) government has registered case against Kuzhalnadan in a land deal.
However, K Surendran said that before filing case against Mathew Kuzhalnadan the investigation into the allegation against VD Satheesan must be initiated. He added that Mathew Kuzhalnadan is also not an innocent person and must be investigated.
The BJP leader also challenged the Chief Minister and the LDF to say Satheesan did nothing wrong. He reminded that the allegation against Satheesan came up first. Therefore a case must be registered against VD Satheesan.
