IDUKKI: Concerns have been raised regarding the construction of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)]’s area committee office in Santhanpara, Idukki district, as accusations emerge that the construction has violated the land regulations. Despite the issuance of two stop memos, the construction work along the Munnar-Kumali state highway persists.
In the Devikulam Taluk region, any construction, including houses, is mandatory to secure a Non-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Revenue Department. However, the construction of the CPI(M)’s area committee office in Santhanpara reportedly lacks the mandatory NOC.
Remarkably, the building’s ground floor has been constructed with a commercial purpose.
The Village Officer, acting on the violation of land rules, has issued stop memos to the construction on two separate occasions. The memos were addressed to CPI(M) District Secretary CV Varghese. Disregarding government officials, the construction persists.
