Thiruvananthapuram: BJP State Committee Member, Sandeep Varier, said that Assembly Speaker, AN Shamseer’s insulting statements against Lord Ganapathy resulted in the popularity and acceptance of ‘Ganesholsavam’.
Sandeep Varier said that Hindu community at no time in history showed reluctance to view and accept belief and science as they are. Hindus never tried to poison and kill any scientist ever.
The BJP leader also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not a person who is against science. The Prime Minister has written two books on climatic change.
Varier said that Narendra Modi gave great encouragement to discover Covid vaccine during the pandemic. He believes in scientists and the world of science.
Sandeep Varier also took a dig at Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, and said that while Narendra Modi entrusted the work to develop Covid to scientists, the CM of Kerala entrusted that work to director Adoor Gopalakrishnan.
Speaker of Kerala Assembly, AN Shamseer, had earlier insulted Lord Ganapathy and Hindu beliefs and said that those were myths and was a hindrance to social progress. He, however, kept silent on the myths and beliefs of other religions in his speech.
Ganeshotsavam was celebrated all over Kerala with much fanfare this year. Huge crowds gathered in the processions organized to celebrate Ganesha Chathurthi.
The biggest Ganesha Chathurthi celebration is taking place at Palakkad. 250 idols will be immersed in water after the grand procession. The public function will be inaugurated by movie star Unni Mukundan.
