Kochi: The latest update from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has highlighted Kerala as the state with the most frequent incidents of train attacks. This observation is detailed in the report submitted by the Railway Protection Force to the Central Intelligence Agency, addressing the security challenges faced by the train services in Kerala. A series of attacks causing damage have targeted the Vandebharat thrice, along with other recent instances affecting train services in the state.

A few months ago, a tragic incident occurred when the Alappuzah-Kannur Executive Express was attacked at Elathur, resulting in the loss of three lives. The majority of train attacks have been concentrated in the northern districts, particularly between Kozhikode and Mangalore. Over the past 22 months, Kerala has witnessed 55 train attacks. According to the RPF’s report to the Central Intelligence Agency, this number stands as the highest across the country.

Discussions and deliberations are currently underway within the Ministry of Railways to enhance the security of trains operating in Kerala. The report suggests that as attacks continue to rise, stricter security measures need to be implemented aboard trains. It is anticipated that investigative agencies and security personnel may soon arrive in Kerala to address the situation.
