Kochi: The High Court of Kerala has acquitted RSS-BJP members in the murder of CPI(M) activist, Shihab. The RSS-BJP members Naveen, Pramod, Rahul, Vyshak, Sudhir, Biju, and Vijyasankar, were sentenced to triple life imprisonment earlier by Additional Session Court. However, the HC Division Bench comprising Justices PB Suresh Kumar and CS Sudha have acquitted all the accused in the case.
Shihab, an activist of CPI(M) was attacked on March 15, 2015 at Pavaratti in Thrissur district and was killed. Shihab was the first accused in the murder of RSS Karyakartha, Vinod. The prosecution argued that Shihab was attacked due to political revenge.
The accused have been in jail since 2015. Advocates B Raman Pilla, Adv. P Vijayabhanu, Adv. S Rajeev, and Adv. Arjun Sridhar appeared for the accused.
