CPI(M) party office construction in Shanthanpara: High Court to hear case today

Kochi: The Idukki District Collector will provide updates to the High Court regarding the strict measures taken to enforce the stop memo issued to the construction of the CPI (M) party office in Shanthanpara, which is in clear violation of regulations. The Division Bench of the High Court will preside over the hearing of the petition. The Court had expressed its displeasure concerning the ongoing construction of the CPI(M) party office in Shanthanpara, disregarding the interim order.

Previously, the government had conveyed to the court that no action had been initiated due to the non-receipt of the order’s copy. In response to this, the Court convened urgently yesterday after the amicus curiae highlighted the continuation of party office construction despite the pending High Court ruling. Yesterday, the Revenue Department released a fresh stop memo explicitly prohibiting the construction of the CPI (M) party office in Shanthanpara.

The Udumbanchola LR Tehsildar issued an official notice demanding an immediate halt to the construction activities of the CPI (M) office. The court had initially ordered a cessation of the building’s construction owing to the absence of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Revenue Department. However, in clear violation of this directive, the construction activities were observed to be in full swing on Tuesday night.
