Kannur: According to reports, the second Vande Bharat Express to grace Kerala’s tracks is steadily approaching. In the lead-up to its launch, the training of locomotive pilots has commenced in Chennai. A duo of skilled pilots from the Palakkad Division have initiated their training regimen in Avadi, Chennai. Simultaneously, the mechanical department, responsible for intricate technical aspects, is also undergoing comprehensive training in the same location. Furthermore, a dedicated pitline has been established in Mangaluru.
Reports indicate that certain train schedules along the Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore route have undergone adjustments as a consequence of these developments. At present, the existing Vande Bharat service sets off at 5:20 a.m., embarking from Thiruvananthapuram and reaching Kasargod by approximately 1:20 p.m. It has been disclosed that the impending second Vande Bharat Express will follow a similar departure pattern from Mangaluru. This train will make its journey to Thiruvananthapuram in the afternoon and subsequently depart from there at 2 p.m., ultimately arriving in Mangaluru by 11 p.m.
The establishment of the power line-equipped pitline for Vande Bharat in Mangaluru has been successfully concluded. At present, Mangaluru boasts three functional pitlines, with the aforementioned power line being drawn from one of these installations.
