Ernakulam: KPCC president K Sudhakaran has given his statement in the defamation case he filed against CPI(M) state secretary MV Govindan. He gave the statement to the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.
Sudhakaran, had also filed defamation cases against the CPI(M) party publication ‘Deshabhimani’ as well as Kannur District Panchayat President PP Divya.
The two witnesses related to the case gave their statement in the court on August 25. The court adjourned the case to September 8 and the statements of the rest of the witnesses will be taken then.
On July 25, K Sudhakaran filed a defamation case against M V Govindan, the state secretary of the CPI(M), in a magistrate court. This legal action was taken in response to remarks made by Govindan that linked Sudhakaran to a POCSO case associated with Monson Mavunkal, a self-proclaimed controversial dealer of antiques.
Referring to an article published in ‘Deshabhimani’, Govindan had made a statement indicating that the victim involved in the POCSO case had informed the Crime Branch that Sudhakaran had been present at one of the locations where she was subjected to assault by Mavunkal. Following this shocking statement by Govindan, Sudhakaran made a move to take legal action against Govindan.
