Thiruvananthapuram: Communist goons threatened members of a youth club called ‘Kalikalam’ for organizing Onam celebrations. Yesterday evening, the CPI(M) members destroyed the posters, bill boards etc., which were set up by club members to advertise their Onam celebrations.
The incident occurred at Vattappara in Thiruvananthapuram district. The club members were threatened by the CPI(M) goons and was warned of consequences if they went forward with Onam celebrations. They have issued a warning that the Onam celebration of the club will be disrupted.
The CPI(M) is against the ‘Kalikalam’ club mainly because it is led by BJP sympathizers. The communist party has a history of not allowing any other political party to organize their events or engaging with the people. Instead of countering it democratically, the communist party uses goons to unleash violence against their political opponents.
The club members have approached the Vattappara Police and sought police protection for their Onam celebration, which is scheduled for today evening.
