Thiruvananthapuram: Former Mizoram Governor and BJP candidate for Thiruvananthapuram, Kummanam Rajasekharan, has lashed out at the communist government for trying to take over the Padmanabhaswamy temple.

He said that the 8- member administration committee that the government proposed to the Supreme Court is nothing but a tactic to takeover the temple by the backdoor.

Kummanam Rajasekharan claimed that out of the 8-member committee six members are selected by the government.  He continued that it is evident that the government is aiming for complete control of the administration of the temple because the six members will have loyalty only to the ruling government and will be those who are ready to do the government’s bidding.

The BJP candidate said that the move by the government is of grave concern especially during a time when devotees are resisting the anti-Hindu government actions. The government is trying to take over temples ignoring the desires of the devotees.

Kummanam Rajasekharan said that two days back, the Supreme Court observed that temples must be governed by the devotees and not the government. He wished that the apex court’s observation will open the eyes of the communist government. He also asked the government to stop challenging the devotees.
