Kochi: The High Court of Kerala today demanded an explanation from the State government for arresting K. P. Sasikala teacher, the leader of Sabarimala Karma Samithi, when she came for darshan at the holy shrine. .
The High Court has also asked the Secretary of the Home Ministry, the DGP, Ernakulam Range IG, District Collector of Pathanamthitta and the Chief of Police of Pathanamthitta to give an explanation along with the State Government.
Sasikala teacher, who is above the age limit of 50, has been at the forefront of protests against the Supreme Court verdict and also spearheaded the resistance to the Kerala government’s anti-Hindu activities.
The firebrand Hindu leader was arrested while on her way to the holy shrine on 17 November last year. While the police were trying to take young women to the temple, Sasikala teacher went there because she was above the age limit and had followed all the rituals and practices that a devotee must follow.
However, the police arrested her and used force to drag her out of the temple premises while she was resting. The move by the police was widely criticized by Ayyappa devotees. She was released shortly after that.
The SC/ST Morcha President Sudheer was also arrested on that day.
Sasikala teacher had filed a petition against the police action at the High Court.
K. P. Sasikala, or commonly known as Sasikala Teacher because of her profession and also in respect to her. She has been at the forefront in the fight for Hindu causes. As leader of Hindu Aikya Vedi, she has brought out the injustices faced by the Hindu community for long.
She was one of the first leaders who openly voiced her concern against Love Jihad and was instrumental in bringing this menace out into the open. Her tough stance against Love Jihad and other evils threatening Hindu community have also attracted criticism from minority religious extremists and other so-called ‘secular’ intellectuals.
