Thrissur: BJP leader and actor, Suresh Gopi, criticized the Thrissur Corporation for not inviting Minister of State (MoS), V Muraleedharan, for the inauguration of the skyway funded by the Central Government. He said that the central ministry had included the project of the skyway in the AMRUT Scheme. The Central Government had given Rs.270 crores fund to the Corporation in 2016 and in 2022 Rs.251 crores was given.
Suresh Gopi said that whatever the politics behind it the fact that V Muraleedharan was not invited was bad.
The BJP leader said that the place is prone to accidents and children, women and the elderly find it difficult to move through the crowded area. Skyway is a comfortable arrangement for the people and he appreciated the Corporation for submitting a project like this.
He however said that the Central Government identified its potential and included it in the AMRUT Scheme. The Central Government had given funds of Rs.270 crores in 2016 and Rs.251 crores in 2022 to the Thrissur Corporation.
He added that if Central funds are used in this way it will be beneficial to those in Thrissur. Let the Corporation do what it wants, the Central Government is giving money. The Central Government is correctly providing the money that belongs to the people.
Suresh Gopi then registered his protest for not inviting V Muraleedharan for the inauguration function.
He continued that this is part of the Prime Minister’s development project. The skyway was funded as part of this project. So, V Muraleedharan should have been invited. This kind of approach must stop. Whatever the politics behind it, this is not the correct thing.
These are the people who put their pictures on the kits. Then what is the problem in informing about this, asked Suresh Gopi.
