Thiruvananthapuram: It is alleged that Sree Narayana Guru was insulted during the Onam week procession of the Left government. The incident took place during the culmination procession of onam festivities held in the capital. According to reports, the statue of Sree Narayana Guru was allegedly displayed with a noose around the neck as part of the procession that went around the city. This incident has sparked widespread protests, including on various social media platforms.
An elaborate procession was organized in Thiruvananthapuram city as the conclusion of the Onam week celebrations by the state government. Sree Narayana Guru was alleged to have been insulted in the still display prepared by the Department of Culture. The display was in an open vehicle with the Gurudev statue tied behind by the neck.
Professor VT Rema, the state Vice-President of the BJP, asserted that the incident of insulting Gurudev’s statue represents an ongoing pattern of the Pinarayi government’s consistent disrespect towards the majority community. The Left government, known for its historical affronts to the Hindu community, depicted Sree Narayana Guru as if he were bound by the neck during a cultural procession witnessed by the entire population of Kerala. VT Rema emphasized that such actions are not isolated incidents and have been occurring over a period of time, rather than being confined to recent events.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Speaker AM Shamseer, Minister of Public Works PA Muhammad Riaz, MLAs and MPs attended the event where Sree Narayana Guru was publicly insulted.
