Thiruvananthapuram: With the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on the horizon, the Election Commission has set its machinery in motion, gearing up for the electoral process. As part of this comprehensive effort, the Election Commission has taken a proactive step by organising a workshop intended for district collectors, deputy collectors, and election officers in Thrissur, scheduled for this Saturday.
The Election Commission has clarified that such workshops are standard procedure preceding every election. They serve as a crucial platform for officials involved in the electoral process to familiarise themselves with the latest guidelines, technologies, and administrative protocols.
Following the workshop, the Election Commission plans to convene a meeting with representatives from various political parties. Such interactions between the Election Commission and political parties are instrumental in addressing issues, building consensus, and fine-tuning the electoral framework.
The Election Commission has also extended the deadline for citizens to add their names to the voter list for local self-governing bodies. Interested individuals now have until the 23rd of this month to ensure their inclusion in the voter registry. Following the central government’s proposal of one country, one election, the preparations of the Election Commission are also underway.
