Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC president K. Sudhakaran on Tuesday said the State government was trying to get away from the issues of its people.
He was speaking to reporters about the outcome of Puthupally by-elections which according to him is going to be in the favour of Congress. Sudhakaran said that UDF candidate Chandy Oommen is sure to register a historic victory.
He said, “Congress will get more votes than Jaick C Thomas. Farmers are starving. Promised funds have not been given for such a long time. Several farmers in the region are yet to receive payments for paddy procured from them in the last crop season,” he said.
Sudhakaran said that when farmers in the State were struggling, the government was engaged in extravagant spending. “There is no restriction on Pinarayi’s extravaganza. When the people of Kerala are starving, they spend 80 lakhs and hire a helicopter.”
He further said that Pinarayi Vijayan is not fit to be a Chief Minister. “He avoids the issues of the people. He seems to be in a dream world. Such a Chief Minister is a shame for the state and its people.”
K Sudhakaran informed that KPCC is organizing a foot march in 14 districts to mark the anniversary of Bharat Jodo Yatra and a general meeting will be held to discuss on the same. State level inauguration of the march will be done by KC Venugopal in Kannur. K Sudhakaran will lead the procession in Kannur.
