Bengaluru: Following the footsteps of Tamil Nadu Minister, Udayanidhi Stalin’s statement against Sanatan Dharma, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, tried to create controversy by speaking against a simple custom followed in Kerala.
In most of the temples in Kerala, men remove their shirts while entering the temple to pray to the Deity. Siddaramaiah took up this custom to tarnish Hindu customs followed by the people. The removal of shirts is done out of respect to the Deity and also it is believed that the energy of the Deity is absorbed by the upper body of a male.
In a public function in Bengaluru, the Karnataka Chief Minister said that when he visited a temple in Kerala, he was asked to remove his shirt before entering the temple. But Siddaramaiah opposed the custom and refused to enter the temple. He added that this custom is inhumane.
