Thiruvananthapuram: Employees of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) are facing mounting frustration as the first installment of their August salaries, due on the 5th of this month remains delayed. Over the past three months, KSRTC employees have experienced repeated delays in receiving their salaries. The labour unions now contemplating strike action to address the ongoing issue.
Compounding the employees’ frustration is the fact that, despite witnessing a record increase in revenue for KSRTC last month, they continue to face salary distribution problems. In response to the ongoing issues, the employees have resolved to escalate their protests, moving towards larger demonstrations starting tomorrow.
The KSRTC management had initially assured employees that salary disbursements would occur in two installments, with the first installment scheduled for the 5th of each month and the second installment on the 15th. However, this promise has not been upheld for the past three months, leading to growing dissatisfaction among the workforce. Even during the recent Onam festival, employees had to resort to extensive protests to secure the benefits they were entitled to.
