Malappuram: The NDA candidate of Wayanad, Thushar Vellappally, faced another bout of violence from goons of Congress ally Muslim League. This is the second time the NDA candidate, who is contesting against Rahul Gandhi, is being targeted by the Congress ally.

The violence occurred in Malappuram, a part of Wayanad constituency, and a stronghold of Muslim League. 5 NDA workers have been injured and admitted to the hospital.

The attack follows another strike by Muslim League workers earlier today, when 200-strong Muslim League activists broke the windshield of Thushar Vellappally’s car and beat by NDA workers.

In addition, Thushar Vellappally is on the hit list of communist Maoist terror groups. Even after intelligence report about the same, the police have not provided adequate protection for the candidate.

BJP State President, Sreedharan Pillai, has announced that BJP will observe tomorrow as a day of protests against the violence of the Muslim League. He called upon everyone believing in democracy to be part of the protests against the heinous attack. The BJP President said that protests will be organized all over Kerala.

Muslim League, an ally of Congress, has been restless since Thushar Vellappally began his successful election campaign. He is making huge inroads into the bastion of Muslim League and Congress. Yesterday, the Adivasi Gothra Sabha, a party constituted by 20 tribal communities, extended its support to Thushar Vellappally.
