Thiruvananthapuram: A heated debate unfolded within the Kerala Assembly on Monday, regarding the ongoing monthly payments controversy involving the Chief Minister’s daughter Veena Vijayan.
In a sharp and direct attack aimed at the ruling LDF government, Congress MP Mathew Kuzhalnadan, raised questions about the Chief Minister’s silence on the allegations surrounding his daughter, Veena Vijayan, and her firm. Kuzhalnadan went further to assert that the CPI(M) seemed to be actively shielding and protecting CM and his family from allegations of extortion.
“Why is it that those in power are choosing to remain silent when it comes to the reports concerning Veena Vijayan and her company receiving monthly payments?” he inquired.
He pointed out, “It was the CPI(M) state secretariat that addressed the accusations involving Veena Vijayan and her company allegedly receiving Rs 1.72 crores from a firm engaged in mining activities in the Alappuzha coastal region. The actions of the CPI(M) have placed them as a party actively safeguarding a family implicated in extortion.”
Meanwhile, while VD Satheesan stood firmly in support of Kuzhalnadan’s arguments, leaders from the ruling CPI(M) countered by leveling allegations against Kuzhalnadan. MLA Sachin Dev questioned the origin of Kuzhalnadan’s income, even calling him “Junior Adani.” Sachin Dev accused Kuzhalnadan of propagating false news with the help of media.
