Two killed after man sets fire to the room where his son, daugher-in-law and grandson slept

Thrissur: Two persons of a family have been killed after being set on fire  in Thrissur. The victims Joji and his son Tendulkar where killed after Joji’s father, Johnson, set the victims’ room on fire after a quarrel with them. Johnson also tried to commit suicide by consuming poison.

Johnson, his son Joji, Liji and Tendulkar live in the house at Chirakekotta. Yesterday at midnight, Johnson, locked up his son, daughter-in-law and grandson in their room and set it on fire. The local residents saw the fire engulfing the room and rushed in to save Joji, Liji, and Tendulkar and took them to the hospital. Neighbours say Johnson and Joji have been at loggerheads for a quite some time and they had frequent quarrels.

Meanwhile, Johnson consumed poison and attempted to commit suicide. He has also sustained burn injuries. He is at the Thrissur Medical College.

Johnson works as a security guard while his son Joji is a truck driver. The police have arrested Johnson for the crime.
