Ernakulam: The Vigilance took the statement of KPCC President, K Sudhakaran in a complaint against him for amassing wealth illegally. The complaint was filed by his former driver, Prasanth Babu. The complainant said that K Sudhakaran has acquired wealth through corruption in various dealings including collection of funds to build a memorial for former Chief Minister, K Karunakaran.

In his complaint, Prasanth Babu has accused the Congress leader of corruption, which includes corruption during Sudhakaran’s tenure as Forest Minister and irregularities in the construction of Kannur DCC office.

Prasanth Babu had filed his complaint against Sudhakaran on June 7, 2021, which led the Vigilance to order a detailed investigation into the allegations.

Earlier, the Vigilance Cell SP, KP Abdul Razak, had taken a detailed statement from Prakash Babu. The complainant had expressed his doubts if the case against Sudhakaran would be investigated properly considering the Congress leader’s close relations with high officials in the Home Ministry.

The corruption allegations against KPCC President Sudhakaran had dented his image and had also led to discussions within the UDF and the Congress party. During that time, K Sudhakaran, snubbed the allegations saying that it was all fabricated.
