Thiruvananthapuram: V. Shobha has made history by becoming the first woman president of the Attukal Bhagwati Temple Trust. For the first time a woman has become the president of the Attukal Temple, which is known as Sabarimala of women. K. Sarathkumar has been elected as the secretary.
Until now, V. Shobha was serving as the Vice President of the trust. The newly appointed office bearers officially assumed their roles on September 15. PK Krishnan Nair has been elected as the Vice President, and Anumod AS will assume the position of Joint Secretary. A. Geethakumari, who previously held the position of chairperson, has been selected as the treasurer for the upcoming term.
V. Shobha, formerly an assistant engineer at KSEB, became more active in her involvement in the Trust following her retirement from KSEB. She has served as the Publicity Convenor for the Attukal Pongala Festival and was the first woman to hold the position of General Convenor for the festival. Her husband is VV Kumar, retired as Chief Manager from SBT, and she is the mother of a daughter named Aparna.
