Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state president K. Surendran said that the government is cooperating with tax evasion to get monthly payments. He stated that the ruling and opposition leaders are taking monthly payments from big industrialists to help them in evading taxes. He said the CAG report that the state government has seriously failed in collecting taxes, confirms the BJP’s allegations. “According to the CAG report, the amount to be collected by various departments has increased to Rs 22,258 crore. This CAG report is an example of monthly payments by businessmen to ruling and opposition leaders,” said Surendran.
The BJP state president remarked, “However, the state finance minister is concealing these issues and instead pointing fingers at the central government. Those who burden the underprivileged by raising taxes on a wide range of items, including land tax, building tax, fuel tax and other daily commodities, are the ones supporting tax evaders. Despite the government’s efforts to increase various taxes, Kerala’s tax revenue is dwindling due to this collusion. This situation, where the outstanding tax amount comprises a significant portion of the state’s annual revenue, underscores the true cause of Kerala’s financial crisis.”
He further stated that “Kerala is still holding on only with the help of the central government. The Modi government is paying five times more to Kerala than it got during the UPA government. But the Chief Minister and the Finance Minister are blaming the Center to hide their corruption and incompetence. K. Surendran demanded that the government intervene immediately to collect the dues.”
