Thodupuzha: A report said that the home stay license of a resort belonging to Congress MLA, Mathew Kuzhalnadan, at Chinnakanal has been renewed. Surprisingly, the CPI(M) leadership had raised accusations that Kuzhalnadan’s resort was illegal. The communist party leaders brought out the accusations after Mathew Kuzhalnadan raised the monthly payment controversy involving Chief Minister’s daughter in the Assembly.
According to the report Mathew Kuzhalnadan had applied for a five-year renewal but the license has been renewed only till December 31st.
The CPI(M) Ernakulam District Secretary, CN Mohan, had accused the Congress leader of constructing the resort illegally at Chinnakanal.
The communist leader said that land can be brought at Chinnakanal village only for constructing houses and doing agriculture. Mathew Kuzhalnadan bought the land after giving affidavit to the Village Officer, declaring that he had no other houses in any other part of Kerala. However, Kuzhalnadan constructed a resort at the place.
CN Mohan added that Kuzhalnadan claims it to be a Guest House. But that is a lie. It is a resort business and bookings are still going on.
Though, Kuzhalnadan raked up the monthly payment controversy in the Assembly, the Congress party seems not so keen to follow it up. The raids by IT department at the offices and residences of officials of Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) had uncovered a diary with names of political leaders and high government officials to whom payments are made. The list include names of top Congress leaders such as Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala and also Muslim League leaders like PK Kunhalikutty.
CMRL is the company accused of paying the Chief Minister’s daughter and her firm a monthly payment. CM’s daughter Veena Vijayan or her company Exalogic is found not to have rendered any service to CMRL warranting such a payment. This payment is believed to be a political payment.
