Hyderabad: The Telangana police have charged seven Malayalees, including editor of Malabar Journal, with the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) for their links with Maoist terror groups. The seven persons involved in Maoist terrorism includes Ernakulam native and editor of Malabar Journal, KP Sethunath, Maoist leader, K Murali (Ajith), CP Rashid, CP Ismail, CP Moideen (Malappuram), Pradeep, and Varghese.
The Telangana police said that the seven persons from Kerala were charged with UAPA for maintaining contacts with wanted Maoist terrorist, Sanjay Deepak Rao, who was arrested from Hyderabad on September 15. They were also accused of providing help to Maoists in urban areas.
They are charged under Section 18(B), 20 of UAPA, Telangana Public Security law and Section 25 of the Arms Act.
As stated earlier, dreaded Maoist leader, Sanjay Deepak Rao, was arrested on September 15 from Hyderabad. The sleuths of Telangana Intelligence Department had arrested him from Malaysian Township in Kukatpally in Hyderabad. Sanjay Deepak Rao was on the list of the most wanted persons. The police from Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) were on the hunt for Sanjay Deepak Rao. The Maharashtra government had announced Rs.25 lakhs bounty for his capture.
