THRISSUR: CPI(M)’s Kerala state secretary, M.V. Govindan, issued a stern warning to CPI(M) leaders in Thrissur.
Amidst several controversies surrounding the Karuvannur Cooperative bank scam, a meeting of the CPI(M)’s Thrissur district secretariat committee was convened on September 23. During the meeting, M.V. Govindan participated and deliberated on various strategies to counter the actions of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Karuvannur scam involving CPI(M) leaders.
MV Govindan emphasised that the CPI(M) is facing a crisis linked to certain leaders’ involvement in the Karuvannur bank scam case. He stressed the importance of all CPI(M) members adopting a unified stance of loyalty to the party and its leaders, emphasising the need for unity. Govindan delivered a warning, cautioning that failure to unite on this matter could damage the party’s reputation.
Govindan attributed the present crisis to the inaction of senior district leaders and pointed out their failure to seek a solution. He reiterated that if the leaders had addressed the Karuvannur issue earlier, problems in other branches might not have come to light.
Furthermore, Govindan seeks an explanation from the Secretariat members regarding the issues concerning other banks. He then issued a warning that the current situation is expected to impact the party’s prospects in the upcoming elections. Leaders were also instructed to unite in their support of AC Moideen in the face of the ED’s investigation.
