PATHANAMTHITTA: The Secretary of the SFI Pathanamthitta District, who cast a false vote for the CPI(M) in the Pathanamthitta Cooperative Bank election, has been caught. The SFI secretary, Amal, was caught engaging in fraudulent voting. Amal, who did not possess the right to vote in the bank’s election, illicitly cast his vote five times during the election held on Sunday.
The election took place at the Pathanamthitta Urban Bank last Sunday, and due to the bank’s location within city limits, membership was restricted to city residents only. However, Amal, who hails from Thiruvalla, cast his vote in the election. Notably, Amal cast his vote five times.
The incident came to light after some DYFI members identified him. Initially, he attempted to justify his presence by claiming that he was not there to cast any votes but to assist in the election process. However, the discovery of CCTV footage showing Amal casting his vote exposed the CPI(M)’s fraudulent actions.
Following the vote count, the UDF ruling committee emerged victorious in the bank’s administration, with the Left Front managing to secure only one seat. Allegations subsequently arose, suggesting that the fear of potential failure drove the CPI(M) to encourage false votes.
