THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Amidst the severe financial crisis facing the Kerala government, the state’s Finance Department has sanctioned funds for the foreign trip of Legislative Assembly Speaker AN Shamseer. An order has been issued by the Finance Department sanctioning Rs 13 lakh for his upcoming trip to Ghana.
Shamseer’s trip is to attend the 66th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC). CPC is scheduled to take place in Accra, the capital city of Ghana, from October 30 to November 6, 2023.
The sanctioned amount of Rs 13 lakh is intended to cover his travel expenses.
The Legislative Assembly Secretariat had submitted a request for the travel expenses to the government on August 16, following which the Finance Department approved the amount by relaxing treasury controls.
It is noteworthy that the state government has been delaying the payment of salaries to several KSRTC employees and staff from other corporations, citing the ongoing financial crisis in the state.
