Thrissur: A protest march taken out by BJP activists towards Kunnamkulam MLA, AC Modieen’s office turned violent. The protesters took out the protest march demanding the resignation of AC Moideen for his involvement in the multi-crore Karuvannur Cooperative Bank scam. However, the protesters were met with stiff resistance from the police, who resorted to using water cannon three times to disperse the agitating BJP activists.
Scuffle broke out between the police and the protesters after the latter tried to push down the barricades erected by the police. Some BJP activists got injured in the water cannon firing by the police force. After this, BJP protesters were also arrested and removed by the police
The BJP has strengthened its protest against the multi-crore Karuvannur Cooperative Bank scam. On October 2, BJP leader and actor, Suresh Gopi, will lead a protest march against the scam.
Today’s BJP protest was inaugurated by the party’s District President, KK Anish Kumar. He accused that the prime accused, Satish Kumar, was a benami of EP Jayarajan and AC Moideen. He also revealed that CPI(M) leader, PK Biju and others have relations with money launderers.
The Enforcement Directorate today took into custody a CPI(M) leader, PR Aravindakshan, in the money laundering case related to Karuvannur Cooperative Bank scam. He is considered as a close confidant of MLA, AC Moideen.
