THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Greeshma, the accused in the Parassala Sharon murder case, was granted conditional bail by the Kerala High Court and was released from jail yesterday evening. She was released after her lawyers presented the court order at the Mavelikkara court on the previous night.
Greeshma had been transferred from Attakulangara Jail in Thiruvananthapuram to Mavelikkara Special Sub-Jail on September 15.
After her release, she addressed the media, stating that the court would determine whether her request to transfer the case to Tamil Nadu would be granted. She emphasized that her requests and demands would be conveyed through the proper legal channels and clarified that she had no comments for the media.
Greeshma’s lawyer urged the media to allow the court to consider the matters within the legal framework. Without waiting for media questions, Greeshma departed with her relatives.
The court emphasized that bail should not be denied solely because public sentiment opposes it. Additionally, the court noted that the investigation team reported Greeshma’s cooperation during the case investigation, and the accused had no prior criminal record.
When granting bail, the court highlighted the need for substantial reasons to deny bail even after the charge sheet has been filed.
According to court reports, Greeshma was granted bail on the condition of posting a bond of Rs 1 lakh, and two sureties for the same amount are required for her release on bail. The court mandated that the accused must be present in court on all days when the case is heard in the trial court. Furthermore, the court issued a directive prohibiting the accused from interfering in the trial proceedings or attempting to influence witnesses.
