Thiruvananthapuram: Nine districts in Kerala are on yellow alert as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) is issuing a warning of widespread rain over the next four days. The looming threat is attributed to the possibility of low-pressure system developing in the Bay of Bengal.
A yellow alert has been sounded in nine districts across the state, signalling residents and authorities to be on high alert. The districts under the alert include Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod. This cautionary measure is not limited to today but extends over the coming days as well.
Meteorological authorities are urging special precautions in hilly areas, anticipating an escalation in the intensity of rainfall. The yellow alert serves as a reminder for residents to be vigilant, particularly in regions prone to landslides and flash floods.
