CHENNAI: The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of eminent agriculture scientist, Dr. MS Swaminathan, who is known as the ‘Father of the Green Revolution in India.’
In his condolence message, PM Modi mentioned, ‘His groundbreaking work in agriculture transformed the lives of millions and ensured food security for our nation.’
The Prime Minister posted a thread on Twitter:

At a very critical period in our nation’s history, his groundbreaking work in agriculture transformed the lives of millions and ensured food security for our nation.
Beyond his revolutionary contributions to agriculture, Dr. Swaminathan was a powerhouse of innovation and a nurturing mentor to many. His unwavering commitment to research and mentorship has left an indelible mark on countless scientists and innovators.
I will always cherish my conversations with Dr. Swaminathan. His passion to see India progress was exemplary. His life and work will inspire generations to come. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.’
Several world leaders also expressed their condolences on the great scientist’s demise.
BJP Kerala State President K. Surendran has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the scientist, Dr. MS Swaminathan. In his condolence message, K. Surendran mentioned that Dr. MS Swaminathan was a great personality who led our country to agricultural self-sufficiency.
Surendran also pointed out that Dr. Swaminathan’s death is a great loss to the entire world, as he dedicated his life to ending hunger not only in Bharat but also worldwide. He highlighted Dr. Swaminathan’s significant contributions to Kerala, particularly his work in Kuttanad.
Dr. MS Swaminathan, known as the father of the Indian Green Revolution, passed away in Chennai this morning.
