Thiruvananthapuram: In anticipation of continuous heavy rainfall in the state in the upcoming days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has recommended caution. An orange alert has been declared for Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts, while a yellow alert is in effect for 10 other districts. Additionally, a thunderstorm warning has also been issued.
The heavy rainfall is a result of the development of a dual depression, one over the Bay of Bengal and the other over the Arabian Sea. Thiruvananthapuram is experiencing incessant rainfall since yesterday. Coastal and hilly regions are witnessing intense rainfall. Fishermen have been prohibited from venturing into the sea. According to IMD observations, the forecast indicates that the rain will persist for the next 5-6 days.
