THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Syed Ibrahim, the BJP National Minority Morcha Secretary, was attacked in Kerala. The incident took place during his visit to offer prayers on the occasion of Milad Un-Nabi when he was confronted by a group of around 10 religious fundamentalists.
The attack took place near Anachal, Munnar, in the Idukki district. Syed Ibrahim had traveled to Munnar with his family for a two-day visit and had obtained permission from the authorized mosque authorities to attend the prayer.
Following the prayer, as Syed Ibrahim exited the mosque, a group of approximately 10 individuals rushed towards him, shouting slogans against the Prime Minister Modi. The attackers also stole Syed’s mobile phone, prompting security forces to intervene swiftly. The Munnar police also arrived at the scene to restore order.
After distributing sweets to fellow worshippers at the mosque, Syed Ibrahim filed a formal complaint with the Chief Minister and the Director General of Police (DGP) regarding the incident. He also shared his harrowing experience on social media.
During the attack, SC Morcha district president Raj Kumar and OBC Morcha district general secretary Jaipal Sethuraman were present but were outside the mosque. Syed Ibrahim had gone inside for prayers at the time.
Expressing concern over the incident, OBC Morcha district president P Prabish called for the Kerala police to take strict action to prevent such incidents from recurring.
