Thiruvananthapuram: In a recent development, intermediate Akhil Sajeev will be charged as an accused in the bribe for appointment case surrounding the health minister’s office. This decision follows a statement provided by Haridas. Akhil Mathew, a member of Health Minister Veena George’s personal staff, responded to the accusations against him by filing a complaint, vehemently denying any wrongdoing. He called for a thorough investigation to uncover the truth, leading to the subsequent recording of Haridasan’s statement by the Cantonment Police.
Akhil Sajeev now faces legal action based on these allegations. Authorities are also exploring the possibility that he may have fled the state in an attempt to avoid prosecution. The police are set to record statements from individuals named Basil and Lenin in connection with the case. Basil has been associated with Haridasan since the inception of these allegations. Lenin’s statement will help investigators determine whether he received Rs. 50,000, as claimed by Haridasan. Haridasan has informed the police that Akhil Sajeev had communicated to him the intention to bribe personnel working for the health minister.
According to Haridasan’s complaint, Akhil Sajeev allegedly demanded a bribe amounting to Rs. 15 lakh, under the pretext of securing his son’s wife a position as a Malappuram medical officer as part of the AYUSH mission. This sum was said to include Rs. 5 lakhs for a temporary appointment and an additional Rs. 10 lakhs for permanent placement. Akhil Sajeev reportedly assured that the appointment would be finalized prior to any change in the administration and suggested a payment plan in installments.
