THRISSUR: The BJP in Kerala will conduct a protest march against the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank scam and the involvement of the CPI(M).
Actor and former MP Suresh Gopi will lead the ‘Cooperative Protection March’ (Sahakari Samrakshana Padayatra) in front of the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank branch at 1:30 PM, today. The protest march will be inaugurated by the BJP Kerala state president, K. Surendran.
The march will begin after paying tribute to the victims who committed suicide due to the Karuvannur bank scam.
The march is scheduled to start in front of the Karuvannur branch and cover the areas Oorakam, Cherpu, Chevoor, Palakkal, Kanimangalam via Kuruppam Road, and end at Swaraj Round, Thrissur.
Yesterday, Suresh Gopi posted on Facebook that he would make every effort to seek justice for the people who were financially cheated at the Karuvannur bank. He clarified that this is the main objective of leading the ‘Sahakari Samrakshana Padayatra’ (Cooperative Protection March).
Through his Facebook post, he also refuted some media reports that suggested Suresh Gopi would stay away from active politics.
Earlier, Janam TV had exclusively brought to light information indicating that the first accused, P. Satheesh Kumar, in the Karuvannur scam had a close relationship with former minister and CPI(M) senior leader EP Jayarajan.
