Thrissur: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) sent notice to CPI(M) state committee member MK Kannan again, in Karuvannur co-operative bank fraud case. ED has directed him to appear for questioning on Thursday. AC Moideen will also be sent notice to appear immediately.
The ED which is investigating the Rs 150 crore scam in the CPI(M) controlled Karuvannur Cooperative bank, interrogated party state committee member MK Kannan on September 29, for around four hours. Kannan, the State Vice-President of the Kerala Bank, is also the president of the Thrissur Service Cooperative Bank.
Earlier reports said that Kannan was not cooperating with the interrogation of the ED citing ill health. It also said that there were inconsistencies in Kannan’s statements. However, when Kannan came out of the ED’s office, he denied the reports.
He said that the ED’s interrogation was very friendly, and he would appear whenever called by the ED. “The interaction with the officials was smooth. I don’t have any health issues as of now. Someone might have spread such news to cause worry to my family,” he told the reporters.
