Ernakulam: The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) and local police conducted a thorough investigation into the tragic drowning of two young doctors whose car fell into a river in North Paravur. Officials from the Motor Vehicle Department along with Vadakkekara Police, visited the accident site in Gothuruth and gathered evidence.
The MVD concluded that negligence was the main cause of the accident. Despite the presence of danger warning boards along the road, these warnings went unnoticed by the occupants of the car. Adding to it, heavy rainfall had caused the river to overflow onto the road, rendering it nearly invisible in the darkness of the night. Passengers who survived have provided accounts indicating that they were relying on a navigation map for guidance. Unfortunately, in the absence of clear visibility, they unknowingly proceeded, believing there was a road ahead.
In the incident, the vehicle overturned in Gothuruth, resulting in the deaths of Dr. Ajmal and Dr. Advaith. The incident occurred in the early hours of last Sunday, around 1 a.m., when the car carrying a group of five individuals met with the accident. While the two doctors lost their lives, the three other occupants were promptly rushed to the hospital. Fortunately, the latest reports suggest that their health condition is satisfactory, and they have been discharged from the hospital.
