Thiruvananthapuram: N R Madhava Menon, known as the father of Indian modern legal education, has passed away at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. He was 84. Madhava Menon is the founder director of National Law School of India, Bangalore. He also served as Vice Chancellor at National University of Judicial Sciences at Kolkatha and the first director of National Judicial University, Bhopal.
President Ramnath Kovind has tweeted,

He was conferred with Padma Sri in 2003 for outstanding public services. Madhava Menon had written several books on legal profession, Indian legal education and judicial training.
Cremation will be held at 2 pm at Santhi Kavadam at Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram.
