THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation has imposed a penalty of Rs. 10,000 on the General Hospital Superintendent. The Corporation has also issued a fine and a show-cause notice to the Hospital Superintendent for not arranging a waste management plantation system on the Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital premises.
An inspection was carried out yesterday (October 8) following complaints about the accumulation of several types of waste, including plastic debris.
Imposing penalties and issuing notices is rarely the only action taken against government institutions that fail to manage waste properly. After the inspection, the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation announced that action will be taken against other government institutions that commit such lapses.
The accumulation of waste in Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital just a few days after the PM’s Swachh Bharat Mission, conducted on October 2, highlights the Kerala government’s negligence towards the public.
