Thiruvananthapuram: Sarsanghchalak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Dr. Mohan Bhagwat visited Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple. At 6.45 in the morning, he reached the Padinjare Nada (West Entrance) of the temple and was received by Executive Officer B. Mahesh and Manager B. Sreekumar. He went back after spending half an hour in the temple.
Sarsanghchalak was accompanied by Sar-karyawah Dattatreya Hosabale, Saha Sar-karyawah Dr. Krishna Gopal and others. Before returning, the Executive Officer presented him with an ‘Onavillu’.
Onavillu refers to flat, tapered wooden artifacts decorated with tassels and used in ceremonies of devotion to Lord Vishnu.
During his visit to the temple, the Sarsanghchalak inquired about and gained an understanding of the importance and unique attributes of each deity prior to the darshan. After the darshan the team was met by Princess Aswathi Thirunal Gauri Lakshmibai of the Travancore royal palace near the Thiruvambadi Krishna temple at the west entrance of Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple.
Mohan Bhagwat and the RSS national leaders who were with him were presented with a book on the history of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple. When Prantha Pracharak S. Sudarshan pointed out that the book was written by Princess Aswati Thirunal Gauri Lakshmibai herself, she said that Bhagawan (Sree Padmanabhaswamy) made her write the book.
RSS national office bearers like Sar-karyawah Dattatreya Hosabale, Saha Sar-karyawah Dr. Krishna Gopal, Dr. Manmohan Vaidya, CR Mukund, Arun Kumar, Ramdutt Chakradhar, Karyakari Sadasya (Executive Members) Suresh Bhaiya Joshi, Suresh Soni and V Bhagaiya were also present with the Sarsanghchalak to visit the Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple.
