Thiruvananthapuram: BJP State President, K Surendran, said that the party will not back down from the anti-corruption fight even if thousand cases are registered against BJP leader and actor Suresh Gopi. Those who allege that the central government is hounding them are saying that out of fear of getting caught, he said.
K Surendran also launched a scathing attack against Cooperation and Registration Minister, VN Vasavan. He alleged that the corruption in the cooperative sector is being done with the knowledge of the Minister.
The BJP leader said that the party is not afraid of the case registered against Suresh Gopi and stressed that the party will continue its stir against corruption in the cooperative sector.
On October 2, Suresh Gopi took out a protest march against the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank scam and the involvement of CPI(M) in it. Thousands of activists and people took part in the 18 km protest march. However, the government reacted swiftly and the police registered a case against Suresh Gopi and five hundred others for leading the peaceful march.
Surendran also revealed that BJP has begun its preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. He added that that the CPI(M) must first discuss about how its vote share went down in the by-election at Puthuppally before questioning the BJP. He also asked not to have great expectations in the coming Lok Sabha Elections by looking at the Puthuppally by-poll results.
The Congress candidate, Chandy Oommen, had won the Puthuppally with huge margin against the CPI(M) candidate, Jaick C Thomas. Chandy Oommen banked on his late father and former Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy’s goodwill.
