Divya S Iyer appointed as Managing Director of Vizhinjam International Seaport

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Divya S Iyer IAS, who previously served as the District Collector of Pathanamthitta, has been appointed as the Managing Director (MD) of Vizhinjam International Seaport. This appointment replaces Adeela Abdulla IAS, who held the position of MD for the port from February 2023.

Divya S Iyer was appointed before the arrival of the first ship at Vizhinjam port, Thiruvananthapuram. This change marks one of six district collector appointments.

Haritha V Kumar, the Alappuzha Collector, has been appointed as the Director of Mining and Geology, while John V Samuel is the new Collector for the Alappuzha district. A Shibu has been appointed as the District Collector for Pathanamthitta.

Snehaj Kumar has been posted as the Kozhikode Collector, L Devidas as the Kollam Collector, and VR Vinod as the Malappuram Collector.

Arun K Vijayan is the new Kannur district Collector.

The first ship for the port, Zhen Hua 15, is expected to arrive on the evening of October 15 at 4 pm. It has been announced that the ship will be received with a water salute. The cargo ship is carrying three huge cranes for installation at the Vizhinjam port.

The port is set to be ready for the first phase of operations by this May month.
