Wayanad: Three accused have been remanded as part of an ongoing investigation into the illegal cutting of sandalwood trees on private property without authorization from the forest department in Wayanad. The accused, Tarikh, Vasu, and Arumughan, were apprehended by forest department officials as they were in the process of cutting five sandalwood trees with a total weight of 46,800 kg.
In a separate incident, unidentified individuals recently cut down two 15-year-old sandalwood trees located at the Arikulam Family Health Centre in Kozhikode during the night. The Koyilandi police station received a complaint regarding this incident, and a team led by a sub-inspector (SI) is currently conducting an investigation to identify the culprits involved.
