THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former minister and senior CPI(M) leader G Sudhakaran criticised the Kerala government’s approach to paddy procurement. He expressed his concerns about the government’s decision to entrust cooperative societies with the task.
Sudhakaran argued that cooperative societies should not be given the responsibility of procuring paddy, citing past failures in such attempts.
Sudhakaran expressed that cooperative societies should not be entrusted with the paddy procurement, noting that such attempts had been made in the past and had ultimately failed.
Sudhakaran emphasised that Supplyco itself should continue to handle paddy procurement.
Sudhakaran stated that the Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation (Supplyco) itself will continue to procure paddy, and the government’s primary objective should not be to make a profit from procurement. Instead, they should focus on implementing plans to benefit the farmers and ensure their profitability.
G Sudhakaran made these criticisms while sharing the stage with Congress leaders.
