Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued  an orange alert in four districts of Kerala due to anticipated continuous rainfall. The districts under the orange alert include Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, and Idukki. Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued in Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Malappuram.

The IMD predicts the possibility of heavy rain accompanied by thunder, lightning, and wind speeds ranging from 30 to 40 km per hour today and tomorrow. Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, and Malappuram districts are also under a yellow alert for tomorrow.

Adding to the weather concerns, a whirlwind, locally referred to as “Chakravaathahuzhi,” is situated in the south-eastern Arabian Sea near the Kerala coast, above Lakshadweep. The IMD has informed us that the cyclone is likely to intensify into a low-pressure system by tomorrow.
